The Unexpected Gift of Vibrational Sound Therapy

Updated: Jun 7

There are moments after a session when someone looks up with a soft smile, eyes wide, and says,

“Wow… I didn’t expect that.”

It’s in that moment—the surprise, the shift, the sense of peace settling in—that I’m reminded why I share this work.

What is the Gift of Vibrational Sound Therapy?

Introducing someone to vibrational sound therapy and watching their nervous system soften, their breath deepen, their whole being begin to let go—that’s the gift of Vibrational Sound Therapy

It makes me so grateful to offer this modality.

To witness the unexpected become transformational.

What Is Vibrational Sound Therapy?

Vibrational Sound Therapy set in Serenity Sounds Studio

Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) is a deeply restorative modality that combines gentle physical vibration with soothing sound. Using therapeutic Himalayan singing bowls, we place the bowls directly on or around the body and activate them with intention to create calming tones and grounding vibrations.

As described by the Vibrational Sound Association, the interplay of sound and vibration works on a deep level to:

  • Support nervous system regulation

  • Ease physical and emotional tension

  • Invite the body into a meditative state

  • Offer space for inner stillness and rest

What Does It Feels Like?

Honestly, it’s hard to put the experience into words.

There’s a soothing, melodic, earthy tone you hear—and a gentle vibration you feel. There’s a multi-layered effect happening: while your brainwaves begin to entrain to the rhythm of the sound, your body is simultaneously supported by the vibration.

When I facilitate a VST session, I often feel a shift in myself, too.

My breath slows. My own nervous system softens.

That’s how I know the energy in the room is changing—how I know something deeper is happening beneath the surface.

And I fall into this rhythm that I don’t want to end.

But maybe my favorite moment is actually after the sound has faded…

The silence feels spacious. The energy is softer. And the person on the table often looks up with that expression—clear, calm, and surprised at how deeply they were able to let go.

Preparing for Your First Session

I recommend booking a 60 minute session for your first experience. Even after I explain the process, it’s common for the mind to stay active in the beginning—wondering what will happen, how it will feel. Giving yourself that little bit of extra time allows you to fully settle in and drop deeper into rest.

What to know:

  • You remain fully clothed throughout the session

  • Please wear a shirt free of buttons or jewelry

  • If you wear a belt, I’ll ask you to remove it so the bowls can be placed comfortably

  • The most restorative position is often face down, if your nose doesn't get congested—this allows the bowls to rest along the back, where we hold so much stress

Is Vibrational Sound Therapy Right for You?

While VST is a gentle, non-invasive modality, it may not be suitable for everyone. Please consult with your healthcare provider if you have any medical concerns.

VST may not be appropriate for:

  • Individuals with pacemakers or other electronic implants

  • Those in the first trimester of pregnancy

  • People with a history of seizures, epilepsy, or sound-triggered conditions

  • Individuals with severe mental health conditions (please consult a healthcare provider)

  • Those with acute inflammation, recent surgeries, or areas of the body with open wounds or fractures

If any of these apply to you, we’ll discuss modifications—or explore other sound-based modalities that are a better fit for your needs.

Not Ready for a Full VST Session Yet?
Tandem sound bath and VST with Adirana and Diana.

Try a Tandem Sound Bath—a collaborative experience with Serenity Sounds and SoundBath Jax.

In this unique offering, Diana activates quartz crystal singing bowls and other sound instruments to create a rich soundscape in the room, while I (Adriana) offer Vibrational Sound Therapy using Himalayan bowls placed directly on or around the body.

This tandem experience allows you to:

  • Receive the full-body resonance of a sound bath

  • Feel the grounding effects of VST in a shorter format

  • Rest in a shared space while receiving individual attention

It’s a beautiful introduction to VST—and many people are surprised by how deeply relaxed they feel after just one session.

Why Sound Therapy?

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, fatigue, or just need to feel like yourself again—sound therapy offers a space to soften.

Clients often tell me they feel:

  • More grounded

  • More rested

  • More connected to themselves

Even when they didn’t expect to.
